Professor Kazuo Tanie passed away on June 9^th, 2007. He has been a very active roboticists, who was also President of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society 2004-5.
We warmly remember Professor Tanie who was so open and sensitive to the social implications of Robotics to have come to the First International Symposium on Roboethics, Sanremo, Italy, in January 2004.
His commitment brought him to kindly serve as Co-Chair of the newly founded Technical Committee on Roboethics.

We miss him greatly.
