Humanoids for Elderly People Support

This talk will introduce the current state of humanoid research and development, both in University environment and government project. Then the possibility for making home robot application is discussed.

As the Japanese population structure is rapidly moving to elderly society, the author attempts to discuss whether the humanoid technology can contribute to make elderly people more and longer independence.

Technical problems, social acceptance, and our culture and mind for human machine interaction might be discussed.
